Planning in a Pandemic

Planning in a Pandemic

These are frustrating and scary times right now. But I can think of nothing better to lift spirits and bring light to the world than a wedding.

Corona virus has jolted many wedding plans and wedding day and has changed the way we view gathering together as one for a celebration. If anything, I think it has taught us the importance of finding any way we can to connect to one another. You may be one of the couples affected by COVID-19 or are nervous for your upcoming event and if the virus will have any ramifications. That is why I have put a together a list below to help guide you through the next phase of your planning process.

1. Don’t Stop Planning!

With the influx of couples moving their weddings to the fall and to 2021 and the couples who are just now getting engaged, there are now double the amount weddings taking place in a very short amount of time. What does this mean for you? Don’t give up hope and don’t stop planning! Act fast and act now to secure the date and the vendors you’re wanting. Because availability will extremely slim for all wedding vendors.

2. Hire a Planner

If you haven’t already, now more than ever, you’re going to want a planner! Your planner can help guide you through these tricky times and can work with your vendors to make sure, now matter what the situation, you get the best outcome. Let someone else take the stress off your shoulders.

3. Pivot

In uncertain times, you must be willing to stay on your toes and PIVOT! Stay open to new and creative ideas and be willing to adjust the style of your event. The success and happiness of your wedding day is all based on your attitude to accept the things you cannot control and be willing to enjoy the day no matter what. And if for some reason you can no longer go through with your wedding on the original date, whatever you do, don’t cancel! Just postpone to a new date! Your vendors will do whatever they have to do to make sure your wedding still happens on a new date.

4. Downsize Your Guest List

There has never been a better excuse to bump your mom’s 2nd cousin off the guest list until now. The more you can downsize without sacrificing those who you truly want to be there, the more money you will save and the safer you will be if you are forced to change your event to an intimate gathering or elopement. Aim for 100 or less guests for round one if you are a 2020 fall wedding.

5. Buy Event Insurance

Most wedding venues require you to have event insurance. But if they don’t, event insurance is something you don’t want to pass over. In the grand scheme of things, event insurance is very inexpensive and can really save your butt if things go south. You can contact your local home owners insurance or use on online site like www.eventhelper.com

6. Hire a Videographer

With ever changing events, it is so important to be able to capture every moment of your wedding day. And with a professional wedding video, you can share your special day with anyone who missed it and watch it for the rest of your lives. Videographers can also offer professional live streaming services which can make everyone feel included in your special day.

We hope this gives you some guidance on where to go from here. At the end of the day, remember that there is hope and a light at the end of the tunnel. And that light is your wedding day!
