Sarah & Alex- Married Rain or Shine
On April 22nd, 2017 I had the pleasure of coordinating this lovely couple's wedding day! It was a grand event at the Hotel Roanoke.
If there is one thing that I have learned to always count on, is that you must expect the unexpected at weddings and assume that something will go wrong. We were very lucky with Sarah and Alex's wedding because we really only had one issue. The rain. As hard as I try to, I cannot control mother nature on a wedding day. And she decided whether we liked it or not, it was a day to water the earth. Because of the unwelcome rain, we had to move the ceremony from outside in the courtyard to indoors. The Hotel Roanoke Staff was so helpful helping us transition and make sure both rooms were ready to go for the event.
Thankfully the rain did pause throughout the day long enough for Melissa Durham to capture these jaw dropping photos of the couple. I truly believe that cloudy days make the best photos.
As the girls were pampered and got all dolled up for the big day, my team and I were busy at work setting up the details and decor for the ceremony and reception space. The bride made things so easy for us and brought together a gorgeous look that she designed herself. All the calligraphy for the event was done by the Bride.
The reception took place in the Crystal Ballroom at the hotel. The Crystal Ballroom is one of my favorite ballrooms at the Hotel Roanoke. The mirrors on the wall make the space feel bigger and more elegant.
Gloriosa dropped of these beautiful flowers that added just the right pop of color to the tables and to the room. Even though it was a gloomy day outside, it felt like spring was alive and well and overflowing with color inside the ballroom.
This bridal party was such a fun one to work with. Whoever you choose to be in your bridal party, always make sure it is someone who always has your best interest at heart and who will be more happy for you on your wedding day than you are. Your bridal party should be some of the biggest supporters of your marriage. And Sarah and Alex did a great job at choosing people close to them that celebrated and supported them through this whole process. And how cute is that flower girl??
My mom Joleen happened to be in town visiting me the weekend of this wedding so she came and joined my team. I also had my assistant Bethany Franco working this event with me. I am so thankful to my assistant Bethany and my mom for all of their help with this wedding. Six hands are way better than two.
At the end of the day, we were exhausted. But we were smiling from ear to ear because the wedding turned out so beautiful and Sarah and Alex were married!
